The Justice for Rudy Coalition Protests Closed Door Cop Training
Led by State Agent Indicted of Voluntary Manslaughter
Saturday September 4th, 2-4pm at the San Jose Double Tree Hotel

WHAT: Rally and press conference featuring family members of victims of Bay
Area police shootings, religious leaders, and community leaders. The rally
and press conference is to stop the Double Tree Hotel from hosting a
conference by the CCGIA (Central Coast Gang Investigators Association)
September 7th-11th. CCGIA is an association of law enforcement agents that
is led by Michael Walker and Brian Link (both are conference organizers and
on the Board of Directors). Link and Walker are State Drug Agents who
killed Rudy Cardenas in a case of mistaken identity. Walker has recently
been indicted of voluntary manslaughter. Family members of Rudy Cardenas and
community leaders will also present the Double Tree management with a letter
demanding them to not host the CCGI Conference.

WHEN: September 4, 2004. Rally starts at 2pm. Family members and Community
Delegation approaches Double Tree management at 2:30pm. Press conference
immediately following the presentation of the demand.

WHERE: The Double Tree Hotel at 2050 Gateway Place.

Background: Rudy Cardenas was shot and killed by State Agent Michael Walker.
Brian Link is another Agent that was involved the tragic and unprofessional
event that led to the death of an innocent father of five. These two agents
are on the Board of Directors for the CCGIA. They will be holding an almost
weeklong seminar to train other officers on gangs and tactical procedures.
"We are outraged that they would let such agents train other officers.
Walker was indicted on Voluntary Manslaughter and during the trial it was
made very apparent that they had a very difficult time following their own
procedures," says David Madrid, a youth community organizer for Silicon
Valley De-Bug. Regina Cardenas, daughter of Rudy Cardenas asks, "How is it
that we are going to let them into our community to train other officers?
Are taxpayer dollars paying for them to take this training? If so, we¹re
paying for our own death."
