A benefit and celebration for the Center for Political education
showcasing films, artists, MC’s and poets, to honor the people’s resistance
and make links between our struggles.
Featuring:
Two September 11ths in a Lifetime, by Ariel Lopez, a film that explores
Chile’s September 11th, 1973, and the meditations of Chileans on September
11th, 2001.
Chilean hip-hop artist, KAKO will inspire us with his words about September
11th and Democracy in Chile and the US (in Spanish).
An excerpt from the new independent film About Baghdad, reflections on the
traumatic legacy of dictatorship, sanctions and war, and the resilience and
humanity of a people who were for decades dehumanized and disappeared behind
Saddam’s image.
MC Iron Sheik- Using hip-hop as his medium, the Iron Sheik relays informed
views on the Palestinian movement for independence, the war on terrorism, US
foreign policy, the Arab world, and growing up Arab-American. Iron Sheik
was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle on August 22- check it out.
