SF Labor Day Rally for Hotel Worker Contract

12,000 member of UniteHERE Local 2, San Francisco are negotiating a contract for the workers at the big hotels, namely Argent Hotel, Crowne Plaza Union Square, Fairmont San Francisco, Four Seasons San Francisco, Grand Hyatt, Hilton San Francisco, Holiday Inn Civic Center, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf, Hyatt Regency San Francisco, Mark Hopkins Inter-Continental, Omni San Francisco Hotel, Sheraton Palace Hotel and Westin St. Francis and 12 other hotels. The hotels want to eliminate medical benefits, freeze wages for some and give small wage inceases to others and continue to allow excessive workloads. While the hotels whine about decline in tourism, they have cut back so much that they only need 47% occupancy to be profitable.
