"Liberty Bound" Bushwhacking film tours US

by zRants (mari_eliza_ [at] yahoo.com)
"Liberty Bound was produced out of my desire to respond to the insanity and fear that has gripped our country since 9/11, in an entertaining and interesting way... I became the journalist; talking to American citizens about their experiences, feelings, and fears." Christine Rose, Filmmaker

The other 9/11 documentary, "Liberty Bound", has been making the rounds in theatres in Europe all summer, after being released by French distributor, Take Off. Audience response has been overwhelmingly supportive. After viewings, strangers tend to meet and discus the film, and issues raised by it, at length. News of the film is spreading by word-of--mouth, email. and on-line forums. Filmmaker, Christine Rose has had a number of radio interviews, and reviews are coming in from Texas to Croatia. A review, in the Dallas Observer, titled " More Bushwhacking - Yet another filmmaker sets her sights on the president", indicates a healthy appetite for liberal views within the Texas media. Even though some of Christine's discoveries of events leading up to and on 9/11 have been aired on the nightly news, and covered by Michael Moore and other documentarians, her film delves a lot deeper into the aftermath of the tragedy and the effects of the Patriot Act on ordinary citizens than most other anti-Bush films. She doesn't hesitate to ask the tough questions.

Through original footage, archived footage, and interviews with people such as Howard Zinn, Michael Parenti, and Michael Ruppert, Liberty Bound explores the state of the union and its ostensible move toward fascism. We meet people who have been interrogated by the Secret Service and threatened with arrest for doing such benign things as sending an email, turning around during a Bush speech, and having a philosophical discussion on a train.

Christine explores the events surrounding the attacks of 9/11, and the Administration’s reasons for initiating a preemptive war. She also delves into the accusations that the Bush Administration knew about the 9/11 attacks and that the war in Iraq is about control of their oil. The question, "How did our oil get under their sand?" is posed by Howard Zinn.

Finally, she studies similarities between previous empires and fascist states and recent occurrences in the United States, such as, the loss of civil liberties, police brutality, homeland security, and the rise of nationalism.

Since it's hard to predict what the outcome of the election will be, every effort to enlighten people counts. Please pass the word about "Liberty Bound". See the site for more details, including a list of interviews, a trailer, and audience responses.
