9/1 truth-flashers vs. Bush

by SUN (SaveFreedom [at] yahoogroups.com)
Protest in Battery Park, Manhattan, Wed., 6pm NYC time.

(Please post JPGs at queer page of IndyBay.org )

Operation Expose and Depose

"Do right and you will be conspicuous"
--Mark Twain, 1901

"Let's expose the bastard, one panty at a time!"
--Axis of Eve supporter

The Axis of Eve is a coalition of brazen women on a mission to EXPOSE and DEPOSE President Select George W. Bush and his deceitful administration.

Convinced that effective political action can be irreverent and exciting,
we have launched a titillating campaign of TRUTH-FLASHING coordinated around
our provocative line of protest panties, emblazoned with anti-bush slogans like "expose bush",
"weapon of mass seduction,"
and "ballot box."

This campaign will culminate during the Republican National Convention in NYC
on September 1st at 6 PM [New Yok time],
when over 100 Eves will perform a MASS FLASH of our protest panties
(no nudity!)
to create a media spectacle that lays bare the shameful tactics of the Bush administration and boldly demands and end to political cover-up.
WE HAVE A PERMIT !

[....]
WHERE:
Meet in front of Golden Sphere Sculpture
in Battery Park [in Manhattan],
near the entrance.

Subways: 4,5 to Bowling Green;
1,9 to South Ferry;
R,W to Whitehall.
From Bowling Green, exit station and enter park.
From South Ferry and Whitehall,
walk along State street until you reach park entrance.

[....]
The political nature of our panty campaign prevents us from holding a non-profit status. However, ALL PROFITS generated by the sale of protest panties will be donated to our non-profit sister organization, Daughters of Eve. We will strategically spend Daughters' funds to coordinate protest events, voter mobilization activities, and other creative activist projects.

(A) 6PM Eastern time will be several hours earlier in California.
.......

(B) The "no nudity" policy probably indicates that some participants were thinking of
wearing only panties; thus leaving chests bare.
Of course, a man's bare chest isn't considered "nudity" by Americans (tho it might be so considered in Iran or Saudi Arabia). Real nudity would mean going without panties, or any other covering of one's crotch.

So probably Axis of Eve's "no nudity" policy means, translated, "Females should keep their breasts hidden."
Or, in other words, "No topfreedom"; or "No toplessness".

In the State of New York, there's NO LAW against women going bare-breasted on the public streets. This was decided several years ago by NY state's highest court.

And within New York City, after local police tried to stop female "mermaids" from exposing their breasts in the Mermaid Parade, held each June at Coney Island beach,
a woman sued and won.
Since then, NYPD has been forced to tolerate bare female chests at the Mermaid Parade.
