8/29 Republican Night Out at the Crobar

This event was called "A Tribute to Southern Leadership".

The Republican delegates from Southern states flocked to this event (held at a local s&m club – i'm not kidding!) to see Leonard Skynrd. It was guest list only and there were some really disappointed Skynrd fans... and a few local protesters.

Some local NYC protesters (and one Skynrd fan in the middle). Strange scene at the Crobar. I forgot to mention the undercover cop completely snoozing with his mouth wide-open in his car.

FYI: seven years here in NYC; family from NYC; not a GOPer; I am a Skynrd fan; someone put me on the guest list (aka I didn't pay to go); tolerant of the RNC here in the city, like I try to be of everything as a New Yorker.

A teenage NYU student screamed at me to "Go home," as I exited. Flashing a peace sign, I muttered, " I am. I live on Houston Street."

No one came out smelling like roses that night, kids. The protesters looked as stupid and witless as the young republicans. Just not as well dressed.
