Getting Ready for RNC
up-to-the-minute reports.
There will be a Critical Mass ride on A27, direct action on A29 and A31, and a permit-less march following a Kensington Welfare Rights Union rally at the United Nations on A30. There will be countless cultural events and acts of street theater throughout the city 24 hours a day.
General information on the protests can be found at www.RNCnotwelcome.org and www.CounterConvention.org. Regular updates are posted to RNCwatch and there is constant discussion at NYC IMC. While there's still time, you can also order The People's Guide to the RNC and have it in your hand before you leave for NYC.
Local media will operate an independent media center around the clock. Out of this IMC, they will produce six days of 24-hour webcasts,1 hour of live television each day, and minute-by-minute reports on the web. The Indypendent just printed 200,000 copies of it's third issue focusing on the RNC and has plans for more. If you want to participate in these projects, register now. Please consider making a donation to support this critical effort.
Two new projects that all independent journalists should know about: A network of over 60 radical librarians have conspired to provide fact-checking and research through www.radicalreference.info. And a new system for alerting people of attacks on independent journalists will go into effect for the RNC; you can learn more about it and sign up for the alerts at www.right2report.net.
