"Democracy is the majority of people having decision making power

something that is built from below, with everyone, even those who think
differently from us. Democracy is the exercise of power for the people all
the time and in all places." - EZLN communiqué regarding elections

Zapatista strategies of organization and outreach provide an inspiring
example of radical social empowerment and movement building for grassroots
organizers, community leaders, and activists worldwide. Zapatistas around
the world have taken on the struggle for the same demands: Land, Work,
Education, Nourishment, Health, Culture, Housing, Free Exchange of
Information and Communication, Liberty, Peace, Justice, Democracy,
Autonomy.
We will take these demands for humanity and our resistance against
neoliberalism and militarism into the streets of New York City and to
Central Park.
"We have in our hearts a future to build. They only have the past, which
they want to repeat eternally. We have hope. They have death. We have
liberty. They want to enslave us." - Subcomandante Marcos

*an anti-mask law in New York criminalizes the wearing of masks and
bandanas tied around faces by three or more persons in a public place. It
is likely that the police will attempt to prevent the message that is
being communicated by wearing masks/bandanas and might arrest people for
it. This is not a call for a masked contingent but when you are deciding
to wear a mask, you should discern what you can do to minimize the
endangerment of others in case of police action and prepare for possible
arrest (arrange to have a jail support person on the outside, write the
National Lawyers Guild Legal Number 212.679.6018 with a permanent marker
on your wrist; carry quarters, phone card, a snack, a nail clipper for the
plastic handcuffs; carry only one photo ID with a good address; do not
carry your phone book or anything else you do not want the police to
have). People of color, poor people, LGBTs, people of limited mobility and
immigrant groups are at greater risk of police harassment, arrest and
abuse. Please respect if people around you wish or need to have a safer
space to express themselves and act accordingly.
An extensive legal briefing regarding the mask law, its legislative
history and ways to challenge it as unconstitutional in the courts has
been posted on the ¡Enough is Enough! Project webpage:
