Interview with Lucrecia Bermudez (District 9 race)
By Ildefonso Rodriguez
“I have no interests different from those whom I’m looking to represent. I don’t see them as my instrument to rule, rather I see myself as a tool for their struggles and right to rule their own lives.”
-Lucrecia Bermúdez

Renee Saucedo: "It's All About Me" (District 9 race)
By Ildefonso Rodriguez
"Tom Ammiano had his opportunity, now it's the turn of someone like me."
"Lucrecia had her opportunity, now it's my turn." -- Renee Saucedo
To the Bay Guardian, to El Tecolote, at Green party meetings and during a debate with candidate Lucrecia Bermudez, she is telling anyone who would like to listen that it is her turn and nobody else’s. And she is very protective of the mantle. So much so that last year she broke with her long term political ally and personal friend Erik Quezada over which of the two should make a run this year.

Crisis in the San Francisco Green Party
By Simon Morales
The local SF Green Party chapter is currently in a state of disarray and dysfunctionality. Some local activists attribute this situation to the control of the organization by a clique of Demogreens who have stifled the work of the party. Others claim that the current state is a price paid for the success of the party, that the problems represent growth pains that will resolve themselves as the politics of the organization are further defined.

The Green Left
By Simon Morales
After the Milwaukee Convention of the Green Party, most leaders of the Green Party have lined up to oppose and denounce the Demogreens, who rigged the Convention with fake delegations and stuffed the ballot boxes with the votes of unknown small bureaucrats.
David Cobb was successful in defeating the endorsement of Ralph Nader-Peter Camejo, but he does not seem to be acquiring much capital out of it. In fact, it’s possible that his candidacy will deprive the Green Party of its ballot status in several states, as he is not likely to overcome the death kiss of the one percentile candidates.

By Chris Finn

School Board election: "It’s Ackerman, Stupid..."
By Simon Morales
SF Unified School District’s Superintendent Arlene Ackerman is a slippery administrator. The fact that she knows how to use the system to get away with murder is spelled out in her handling of the 500 million dollar school budget.

Giving Non Citizens Access to the Voting Booth
By Matt Gonzalez
American patriots who tossed tea into Boston’s harbor in 1773 had a list of grievances against the king of England, which included that they weren’t represented in Parliament despite paying heavy taxes. The cry “no taxation without representation” succinctly captured their sentiments.

Kerry-Edwards the lesser Evil? Give George W. a chance to prove himself
A facetious appeal to give Bush a second chance for the title
By Joaquin Bustelo
I think this is a case where the old adage about being careful what you wish for should be listened to.
I don’t really give a damn which part of the Bush-Kerry ticket the ruling class decides to put in charge for the next four years, or whether they rely on tradition and let the people decide which one fools them better.

Over 1,000 enthusiastic Greens, socialists, independents and no few Democrats cheered, chanted, played music and discussed politics during the kick-off rally for Nader-Camejo.

i liked the name fault lines for the indybay newspaper until i reading this post and learning there is already a 'front lines'
that is too confusing in my opinion.
that is too confusing in my opinion.
its frontlines that's faulty and fault lines that's out in front.
didn't trotsky say something about the fate of those who sing wedding songs and funerals and funeral songs at weddings?
Frontlines had been out there for years and has a large readership. Me thinks Faultlines should change its name, even though I don't care very much... people is smart enough to see the difference.
The poster above seems to be an anticommunist, so his/her opinion doesn't really connect with anything.
Good articles, though...

Where would we be without Frontlines?
Ammiano would have never benefitted from Excrecia's running in 1999 as a base for his write-in campaign.
Gonzalez would not have made the runoff if it weren't for Frontlines' early support for his campaign.
These people are deranged.

Why can't Carlos Petroni sign his own name to any of his hit pieces?
He always writes under a thinly veiled pseudonum.
Idelfonso Rodriguez = Carlos Petroni
Simon Morales = Carlos Petroni
Gina Alvarez = Carlos Petroni
But we all know that Carlos Petroni is a pathological liar.

So Carlos Petroni is an Italian from Argentina, a white male homeowner, who writes under the fake names of of Latinos and women.
Does this mean that Carlos Petroni is a Racist and a Sexist?
Not again, Marc Salomon.... everyone knows that's you spreading your anti-communism against Frontlines. Give it up or it will cost plenty of therapy.
What's wrong with being anticommunist?
If you prefer to root around in the dustbin of history, burn yourself out.
Do we now need to be offering "special rights" to commies?
Just keep singing wedding songs at funerals and funeral songs at weddings and you'll prove my point.
Is "Active Green" an agent provocateur? Sounds like one to me. No one else would be interested in such spewing.
Carlos Petroni is a white man masquerading as a woman of color--a racist. He supports a candidate who runs in terms of reforming the Democrat Party yet rails against demogreens locally. He has managed to pick fights with literally more of one half of the active membership of the Green Party, including many people and women of color.
When Carlos Petroni launches accusations of racism and sexism, he need look no further than his own mirror.
The other answered to you:
"What's wrong with being anticommunist? "
Obviously, a right winger. Otherwise he would've realized how it sounds. They need more training at the Academy, I guess.

What part of the end of the cold war are you all missing?
There are perhaps 100,000 communists of all stripes left in the USA at this point, and that is on a good day.
Could it possibly be that YOU ALL ARE WRONG?
There are many ways to express radical, non patriotic, non capitalist politics other than in the straightjacket of Marxism, Leninism, Stalinism, Trotskyism, Maoism and Juche.
You'd think if you listened to folks you might catch a hint of this and adapt. On second thought, better you all not adapt and perish politically.
This is the same crap that you all pulled at the last Green meeting.
The proposal was to support all Greens irrespective of whom they supported as president.
The Frontlines Freaks blocked this because they didn't want this to include Kerry.
What they said was that it was okay for Greens to vote Frontlines' conscience rather than their own.
The District 9 race is all about tossing the Democratic Party out of the workingclass communities for once and for all. The 10-year member of the Board of Supervisors holding that seat now, Tom Ammiano, is a good Democrat, which means he always supports the entire Democratic Party ticket, no matter how reactionary it is, and he is very pro-Israel. He came back from a recent trip to Israel stating that he "feels Israel's pain" whatever that is, and somehow relates it to the gay-lesbian liberation struggle!
Every single Democratic and Republican politician, by definition, is pro-Israel, which means they support the 56-year illegal occupation of Palestine, the theft of Palestinian land, the torture and murder of Palestinians, all to prop up a fascist theocratic, racist US military base to protect US oil profits in the Middle East called Israel.
The Democrats have been sitting in the workingclass communities by singing whatever progressive tune they had to in order to keep the Reds out of office, and then when elected, perpetrating the same capitalist order the Republicans do. On the Palestinian issue, they cannot play ths game. Tom Ammiano cannot be pro-Palestinian and run as a Democrat.
IT IS ON THE ISRAEL ISSUE THAT TOM AMMIANO IS VULNERABLE. Please raise this issue everywhere on the campaign trail in District 9. Demand the City stop buying Israeli bonds. Voice your support for the Palestinian liberation struggle and for a socialist, secular Palestine. There is tremendous support for this position in District 9, and there is absolutely nothing Tom Ammiano can do to avoid the Democrats' staunch pro-Israel line. Let's chase the Democratic Party out of the workingclass communities for once and for all, and let them join their fellow capitalists, the Republicans, in the wealthy communitieis, where they both belong.

Seriously, Carlos Petroni, how can you keep a straight face with the amalgam of contradictory lies with which you plate your surroundings?
For such a talented, brilliant organizer, you sure seem to have fucked up your attempt to take over an infantile party like the SFGP.
The reason you fucked up in this relatively simple project is that people realized that your lies were unintentional and that you couldn't be trusted minute to minute, same as went down in the Simon Bolivar brigade 25 years ago.
And what's with Lucrecia? Is there some wierd sex cult going on there with bizaare sex rituals? Some sort of traffiking in humans, housing for meeting attendance going on? Do you all cull the herd at IQ=80? All roads lead to Lucrecia indeed!
If you want to do the equivalent of taking off your football helmet and running hear first into the goalposts, burn yourself out. Just don't expect the Green Party to join you.
Was the kid you used as a human shield against the cops at Mission High School one of B.O.H.'s kids? The young one, right?
Just checking.

One track reductionsit thinking. No wonder no one takes you seriously, to the vast detriment of those whose rights you would "defend," or whatever it is you call your delusion these days.
