Sacramento Water Watch Kickoff

by Dan Bacher (danielbacher [at] hotmail.com)

Sacramento Water Watch will kick off with a special presentation of "Thirst" on Friday at 6 pm at the Co-op Learning Center.

Please spread the word about this event!

Sacramento Water Watch Kickoff Event!

Join your fellow friends of locally owned water at a special screening
of "THIRST"- a powerful new documentary that asks the questions- Is
water part of a global commons- a human right for all people? Or is it a
commodity to be bought and sold on the marketplace?

"THIRST" tells the stories of three communities- Rajasthan, India,
Cochabamba, Bolivia and Stockton, California, which are asking these
fundamental questions as water becomes the most valuable resource of the
21st century. They are thousands of miles apart, speak different
languages and occupy different rungs of the economic ladder- yet these
communities are all a part of a remarkable coalition of activists
fighting against the exploitation of their local water systems for
corporate profits.

Join members of the Concerned Citizens of Stockton featured in the
movie for a discussion session after the screening. These inspiring
organizers will be answering questions about how they led a campaign
against a major multinational corporation, what is happening in Stockton
now and what we can do to fight water privatization in Sacramento.

Be a part of shaping the SacWW and choosing our first activities! Bring
your ideas, your righteous indignation and your neighbors to the
screening and stick around afterward to meet with your fellow community
member. We need your input!
