support local organizing while we're at it! Each film will benefit a
different local organization, but donations are appreciated, not required.

** Uprooted: Refugees of the Global Economy
Tuesday, July 27th 8pm
A compelling documentary about how the global economy has forced people to
leave their home countries. This video presents three stories of immigrants
who left their homes in Bolivia, Haiti, and the Philippines after global
economic powers devastated their countries, only to face new challenges in
the United States.

** The Fall of the I-Hotel
Tuesday, August 31st 8pm
This film brings to life the battle for housing in San Francisco. The brutal
eviction of the I-Hotel's tenants in 1977 ended a decade of spirited
resistance. Almost 20 years since the International Hotel's demolition, the
former site of the heart of Manilatown and home to more than 10,000 people
in the 1950s, is still vacant. Many of its surviving elderly residents still
seek low-cost replacement housing. This film resonates very clearly as
homelessness becomes a fact of life in many cities today.
