Revenue Machine

Berkeley reinvents the speed-trap to apply to pedestrians.

First of all, this is a relatively petty injustice compared to most of the crap that is going on in the world. It goes like this:

You are walking down the sidewalk and come to a red "stop" hand signal. Like a large portion of the population, you decide that since there are no cars approaching that you can use your own judgment. Wrong! That will cost you $142 if you do that while the officer in the photo below is there. It will affect your driving record even though you were walking. I don't own a car, but I still find it fuct that you get, not $10, not $30, but $142 and a potential problem on your driving record. I make approx $33/day at six days a week as an attendant to a disabled person. The ticket is more than 4 days of work for me. Yes, he gave me one too. No, I don't want to work more hours because my time is spent with a camera otherwise.

Notice the photographic sequence of events. He waits with little ticket book in hand (throw in obligatory smirk), waits for easy pickins'.

Just don't walk 'high' unless you want the pit bull interrogating your ass.
