Democracy Nees to Replace Bush

by Constitutionalist~Steve D.
Only a partial list of Bush shortcomings. There are so many, where do we even begin?:

Dear Readers and Fellow Citizens;

Have you been keeping up with the news lately?

I'm a common, conservative, patriotic man. I work hard, pay my taxes, try to keep the family and house afloat. I'm writing because I have never felt so strongly about a subject before.

In the short span of three years Mr. Bush's record is a dismal failure beyond California: our jobs are disappearing, the Federal Treasury is being looted and bankrupted, we have lost our goodwill standing in the world, the condition of the military, economy, education, social security, veteran's benefits, Constitutional rights, Medicare, and energy resources are suffering, our air and water are dirtier, our forests are thinner, our states are reeling from unfunded mandates, and our young are dying in unnecessary wars for oil.

Our foreign policy is a mess; Iraq is a costly mess. 911 happened on his watch as his Administration ignored Al Qaeda and fraudulently focused in Iraq. He intentionally misled the world-- and is the first US president to order an unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and military occupation of a soverign nation against the will of the United Nations, majority of US citizens, and the world community... and he let Osama Bin Laden get away in the process.

Mr. Bush's policies are creating and uniting more terrorists than we are capturing. He has conscripted the Iraqi's oil, enriched his corporate friends, and brought war profiteering back into fashion. He has alienated our traditional European allies and destroyed the significance of the UN. The Washington Post recently reported "Bush has spent all or part of 500 days in office at one of his three retreats, or more than 40 percent of his presidency". This includes a month-long kick-back in August 2001 that was the longest presidential vacation in 32 years. It was during this month-long vacation he read his presidential briefing memo on 'Bin Laden Determined to Attack in the US'-- and did nothing. Except improve his golf swing.

This is only a partial list of shortcomings. Admittedly, Mr. Bush does not like to read newspapers or watch television. Perhaps if he did, he might have a clue as to domestic or world opinion-- if he even cared. There is not a single issue that is better since Mr. Bush was appointed office (remember he wasn't elected). His administration and policies border on reckless, inept, and arrogant.

Clearly, this administration has chosen corporations and profits over people, and politics before policies. I really don't believe Mr. Bush and his friends give a hoot about you, I, the common man, domestic or world opinion. They seem to care only to empower themselves and enrich their financial backers. The wealthy-- especially the very rich-- are stuffing their pockets with his largesse. Our leaders are secretly closing the doors and drawing the shades of government in the most isolated, secretive, and unresponsive administration since Watergate. The White House attacks anyone who speaks out: silencing critics, adeptly manipulating our major media, and 'spinning' the public to believe otherwise. I am shocked by what I'm seeing from here. No wonder they want Michael Moore's film, "Fahrenheit 911" shut down-- and are working in overdrive to do so.

There is not a single issue affecting Americans now that is better off than when Mr. Bush was appointed office (remember he wasn't elected). He has taken a country in the midst of prosperity and positive international relations and promptly drove it off a cliff in short order.

Interest rates and inflation are rising, fuel prices are at their highest levels, the Euro is outpacing the dollar, and jobs are bing outsourced or downsized while companies post record profits. Our enormous treasury debt-- once a surplus before Bush hit office-- will have to paid off by future generations of our children. There is a direct link between the Halliburton and Enron scandals and their cozy inside relationships with the White House.

My friends, as you know, this is only a partial list of this administration's shortcomings!

Citizens, please talk to your friends about these critical issues; more importantly, please vote.

Pass this letter and information on to your friends, write to your legislators, write 'letters to the editors' across the nation-- as well as locally. Our democracy needs your help-- now.

I fear we are heading into dark times for our once 'representative' democracy unless we speak up, organize, and vote for what is right and just.

Yours,
Constitutionalist~Steve D.

What a well-spoken, articulate expose of the Bush administration... in a nutshell.

And you didn't even mention: The Abu Grhaib prison torture, the Valerie Plame, Paul O'Neill, and Richard Clark scandals, John Dean's issues of impeachment, Cheney's recent 'F***-yourself' comment in Congress, and a host of others!

The list keeps on growing like Pinnochio's nose!
