Cheney experiments w/ honesty: "Go f*** yourself!"

Washington — It was supposed to be a friendly picture-taking session.

But on the Senate floor Tuesday, Vice President Dick Cheney took his own shot at Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, telling him to "Go (expletive) yourself," Leahy's office confirmed Thursday.

"Oh well, I think he may have been having a bad day," Leahy said Thursday.

Cheney spokesman Kevin Kellems wouldn't confirm or deny that profanity was used.

Cheney confronted Leahy about Leahy's recent allegations of war profiteering in Iraq by Halliburton, a company Cheney once headed.

Leahy responded that that Cheney allies had unfairly attacked the senator for being "a bad Catholic" for failing to support a conservative Catholic judicial nominee.

Cheney responded with the expletive, according to CNN and Leahy's staff.
