"too much fun" in SF, June 24 thru July 4 ?

by SUN (SaveFreedom [at] yahoogroups.com)
Is it possible to have "too many" excellent events,
so you can't attend all you wish?
Maybe, on Pride Weekend 2004 in San Francisco.
CALENDAR 4 FREEDOM-SEEKERS: 6/24 thru 7/4 :
compiled by SaveFreedom, sfBarea, and SUN:
...........
Forward freely.
.............

JUNE 2004: San Francisco's Pride Month: "Out 4 Justice":

Only a selected FEW of the Pride Weekend events are listed below, alas.

For the most extensive listing of SF Pride-related events, please get a free copy of
INSIDE PRIDE 2004, by H.A.F. (lesbian publishers of Girlfriends, etc.).

.........
CAL: SF: 24 June, Thurs, 8pm to 2am: "Naughty Nurses and Dirty Docs":
benefit gala for St. James Infirmary, the sexworkers' clinic;
at DNA Lounge, 375 -- 11th St (near Folsom).
$25 at the door. Be 21 or more.
Event info at [ http://www.lovings.com/sji ]
Clinic info at [ http://www.stjamesinfirmary.org ]

[SUN asks: Top-optional ?? Clothing-optional?? ]
............

USA: circa June 25 (?):
release of Michael Moore's sizzling documentary, "Fahrenheit 9/11".
............

CAL: SF: nude dance performances:
6/25 thry 7/10:

"Night Marsh", Eric Kupers' culmination of the UNDRESSED Project,
returns to San Francisco.

A vibrant ecosystem of naked bodies,
challenging cultural notions about
body, image, beauty and death.

June 25 and 26,
July 2 and 3,
July 9 and 10.
Fridays and Saturdays, 8pm
$10 - 15
Jon Sims Center for the Arts, San Francisco
1519 Mission St. (415) 554-0402

NIGHT MARSH contains full nudity.
For mature audiences. No one under 18 admitted without a parent/guardian.

Kupers directs a cast of 15 dancers, diverse in size, shape,
color, age, orientation and physical ability,
in an intricately choreographed journey through a world of naked bodies.

Beginning with an investigation of our culture's attitudes towards body diversity and nudity,
the piece then looks deeper at fears of the body as it is,
and their relationship to fears of death and dying.

NIGHT MARSH is performed completely naked, using nudity as a
tool for uncovering the often forgotten place of humans in the
wide spectrum of animals and the natural world.
.............

CAL, northern: 34th annual SAN FRANCISCO PRIDE WEEKEND:

CAL:SF: 25 June, Friday: San Francisco Chronicle will publish special section,
"Gay Pride: The Wedding Album",
with stories from SF's historic "Winter of Love";
plus plans for Pride Weekend, June 26-27.
........

CAL: SF: June 26: Dyke March: [followed by Pink Saturday outdoor party]:

Women spend top-optional afternoon in Dolores Park; march shortly before sunset;
wind thru Mission District, eventually get to Castro & Market; then dance thru the evening....

Female persons (past, present, or future) can demonstrate in DM for equal marriage rights, peace, etc.

Men (except transmen) should just watch and applaud the Dyke March.
........
But all genders can party afterwards, at CLOTHING-OPTIONAL Pink Saturday, outdoors on Castro Street.
Please donate generously when you enter the party zone, as net proceeds benefit worthy charities.
SUN will demonstrate at PS.
..........

CAL: SF: June 27, Sunday: Honor Del & Phyllis in the gigantic queer parade.
Wear wedding regalia? Hoods?
For last-minute details of the parade line-up, look in SF Chronicle on Friday, June 25.
If you want to march with a particular contingent, see Chron to find out the NUMBER of the contingent
(#1, always at the head of the parade, will be the famous "dykes on bikes").
Then go early to the parade's staging areas, downtown near the waterfront.
Signs will tell you, at least approximately, which groups of numbered contingents
(like, 180-200 ) should gather on which blocks.

[ SUN might march (nude?) with the Radical Faeries
( IF the ultra-anarchistic faeries even bother to get a contingent number....);
otherwise, with the very-well-organized anti-war contingent.
SUN boycotts the leather contingent, because its leaders try to discourage bare female breasts.]
........

CAL: SF: June 27, Sunday afternoon:
After the parade, Pride Festival in SF Civic Center probably will be
CLOTHING-OPTIONAL (as in June 2003).
Especially inside screened-off Faerie Freedom Village, at United Nations Plaza.
...........................................

CAL, SF: 26-27 June:
28th Annual
San Francisco FREE FOLK FESTIVAL:
Saturday-Sunday, June 26-27, 2004,
noon to around 11pm,
Roosevelt Middle School, 460 Arguello (at Geary). [ Take 38 bus, or 33. ]
Entirely FREE and open to the public.
For more info, please visit
[ Comment by SUN: This festival is excellent. But the 2004 festival conflicts, in part, with
SF's Dyke March (June 26 afternoon/evening) , Pink Saturday (June 26 evening/night),
Pride Parade & Pride Festival (June 27). We hope these events won't conflict in future years. ]
........

USA: June 30: Iraq gets pseudo-sovereignty, while U.S. troops remain there.
...........

CAL, SF: 30 June, Wednesday evening, 5PM:
Anti-war protest at Union Square, in downtown San Francisco.
[ AYOR! Stay clothed and avoid arrest! ]
[Union Square, scene of rallies since Gold Rush days, is bounded by Powell, Geary, Stockton, Post;
near Powell BART/Muni station & many bus lines.
Nearby Maiden Lane is named, satirically, for the prostitutes who were rented there. ]
.........................

JULY 2004:
.......

USA summer: July-August-September (overview): Bush needs average voters, especially those who depend on television for news, to be distracted from Iraq-related issues until after the November election. Republicans stage debate on same-sex marriage in U.S. Senate, starting July 12. Democratic national convention happens at Boston, late July. After the Dem-Con, TV viewers will turn to the Athens Olympics; and many will disengage from national life, for summer activities and travel, until Labor Day. In early September, seeking to profit from the 9-11 anniversary, Republicans will gather in New York City to coronate King George the Lesser; and to find out whether Cheney will continue as Veep candidate (a decision which is really up to Cheney, not Bush).
.....

CAL, northern: BurningMan Flambé Lounge events:
July 7-11, July 31, etc? : please visit:
.....

OREGON: ___ July?: Deadline for fascists to get enough signatures
to put anti-queer constitutional amendment on November state ballot
(unless state legislature does their evil work for them?).
...........

USA: July 4, Sunday: Wear wedding regalia? Hoods?
..........

CAL: SF: 4 July, Sunday: Nude Freedom Day, at Baker Beach. CLOTHING-OPTIONAL. Free.
You're invited to bodypaint and get bodypainted, for freedom, equal rights, and peace on Nude Freedom Day, July 4, at Baker Beach, San Francisco. Free. Adults of all genders and orientations are welcome.
Directions: Take #29 Muni bus to Baker Beach (either of two stops; ask driver); or bike there; or walk from Geary Blvd. and 25th Ave. Walk to northern parking lot, which has water fountain & toilets. From parking lot, walk north on beach (toward Golden Gate Bridge), thru prude zone and into nude zone. Then visually follow the cable fence (separating usable beach from protected vegetation) until you see a Leather Pride Flag (bearing a red heart, with stripes of black, blue, and white). If you don't see the flag yet, just enjoy the beach on your own. Look again for flag, or bodypainters, each hour or two, especially near the log stairway.
Time?: Since the organizer must carry supplies on the bus, no reliable time can be guaranteed. He'll try to be there by 3PM, possibly earlier. Rain cancels. For last-minute changes, please visit [http://pages.prodigy.net/seniornude].
