On one of your other threads there was some doubt expressed as to whether someone at the "anti-war" protest had actually held a sign saying, "Smash the Jewish state"

So you have seen some sign that you interpret being in a negative light in a crowd of hundreds and therefore make a jump to guessing that the person with the sign is antiJewish AND that somehow this makes the entire rest of the crowd antiJewish. The counterprotest to the antiwar protest last weekend contained not only racist signs against arabs (call for arabs to leave Israel) and antiGreen signs, but also contained Bush/Cheney signs; one cold jump to the conclusion that all the counterprotesters were racist republicans who hate progressives but that would be the same flawed logic as what you are suggesting.

I am guessing that if the sign has said "Smash Jews" the crowd would have kicked the person with the sign out of the crowd for being antiSemitic. The state portion of the sign that offends you leaves the possibility open that the intention may have been one of anger at the Israeli State's (government's) actions so nobody took enough offense to push the protester out of the crowd (just as people on here have argued that signs by the proIsrael crowd saying "terrorists arabs out of Israel" were against terrorists not all arabs and the sign saying "kill islamofascism" was targeted at fascists not a call to kill muslims because one sees the religion itself as fascist) Intrestingly I would guess that anyone who had a a sign saying "Smash the Israeli State" would also support a sign saying "Kill Islamofascism" since its really a question of comfort with words that are not nonviolent (and most of the people who would have a "Smash the Jewish State" signs are the same people who would carry signs calling for attacks on neonazis (since many are anarchists who used to fight to kick neonazi groups out of towns when they worked with AntiRacist Action)

LOL...there are currently 57 Islamic states....Women are abused and kept covered. Human rights in Islamic countries is non-existent. 99% of Moslem countries are: Dictatorships, Monarchis or Theocracies...these are the guys you defend because of your inherent anti-semitism...

What does that have to do with anything. There is only one Hindu state, so I guess India has a right to invade Pakistan?

As for problems you have with Islam, before the Israeli right arrested killed or worked to discredit the secular Palestinian leaders the PA used to be pretty far from fundamentalist.
Hanan Ashrawi is even a Christain. Its also intersting to note that despite all of the demonization of Palestinians as Islamic fundamentalists, the late Edward Said had a Palestinian Christian background.

When did the Israeli Right do the things you allege here? Do you mean during Netanyahu's term as PM (mid '96 - mid '99) or during Sharon's from early '01? You omitted that even Labor that took great pains to make strides toward peace with secular Palestinian leaders when it was in power till mid '96 and briefly from mid '99 till early '01 arrested and killed many of the rank and file among members of secular terror organizations.
Much more important, shortly after the Oslo signing, Arafat spoke to Arab audiences of conducting jihad (holy war)! and reminded them that Mohammed too had entered into peace treaties with infidels as a prelude to subsequent military victory. He conveyed the same message by eulogizing as a holy martyr "the Engineer" (Yihye Ayash) the man responsible for the murder of over fifty Israelis.

Of course Palestinian Christians live in the disputed territories. But the proposed Palestinian constitution states that Islamic law (Shari'a) should be the state's law. So is it a consolation that some prominent Palestinians happen to be Christian or of some other non-Muslim creed?

Now who exactly demonizes *all* Palestinians as Islamic fundamentalists? I'd love to know.

Israel is not really a jewish state...there are millions of non jewish people there and all people there live in an equal society just like the U.S...there are numerous non-jews from Russia and many other countries that live freely according to their traditions and dress and speak as they wish. I do not see any non-muslims in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, or Lebanon that can freely pass concretive critisism about the country in which they live without being prisoned. Israel is a country where people dress much more provocitavly than even in the U.S. despite the fact there are many religious people, Israel is a country in which people can eat pork and drive on saturday although its a jewish country, and people suffer in it because it is the only truly democratic state surrounded by numerous fanatic dictatorships that are truly aparthaid and are not tired of losing every war they start with us.

Ed. See the doctored photos by the ISM of Rachel Corrie's death. Note in the first picture the superimposition of Corrie and her ISM associate superimposed to look like they were guarding a home. The angle of the photo also shows she was not addressing the tractor in the foreground based on the angle of the photo shot. Note neither Corrie, nor her ISM associate have any feet. Their feet are not hidden by the grass either. A blowup of this picture reveals it was a superimposed image.This photo was on the palsolidarity website until attention was called to its being doctored after which it was removed. A videotape also exists of Rachel Corrie being killed by the bulldozer that reveals she was no where near a house but in an open field. We are endeavoring to get that video which was shown on Israeli television just shortly after the accident.) Go to:

A careful examiniation of photos reveals there are two different tractors in the before and after shot. The skyline is wrong also as there is no minaret in the background.



Joseph Smith, an Evergreen, Washington ISM volunteer has also cahnged his story more than once. We must all bear in mind that Rachel Corrie was protecting a weapons smuggling tunnel in an open field. If the IDF did not demolish such tunnels, the weapons smuggled would be used to kill Israeli women and children like the four-year-old boy killed in his nursery school last week in Sderot inside Israel along with a 48 year-old man at a nearby bus stop. Killed by a Kassem rocket which no doubt has parts smuggled in via such tunnels from Egypt.



The ISM roils the conflict and doesn't lead to peace. It is the PLO and PFLP with the intention of destroying Israel. Rachel Corrie was no saint. She referred to those who killed Israelis as "martyrs."

This young woman advocated the destruction of America. Let's say she made the bulldozer turn around and go home. How many women and children from Israel might have been murdered by her actions after weapons were smuggled through the tunnel being demolished?
