Part of me says it's a great, funny blockade, especially if that's a bus full of delegates being blocked there.

Another part of me says that it's a lot of white folks wasting food that should go to people. And while maybe the food was rotten or something, that's the message that a lot of people will take from it. And while I fully understand that more food is wasted in many other settings every day, the image you've created is a bad one. And we know the power of an image in this society.

Dear protesters, I am sorry to say this time I am extremely disapointed (at least) and disgusted and offended (at most).
I understand the issues folks attempt to raise in such strategies, as "the food fight". But I'll tell you that as a third world activist, I am in disagreement with the food fight as a way to raise the issue of GMFs. If I am a working clas mother struggling to feed my children, or the immigrant farmworker who picks the gentically modified foods used during the action here being criticized, all I could say to you all: White Priviledged Americans, is that waisting food, even if is not super healthy food, or if it's been radiated, is that you are all crazy and out of touch. FOOD IS FOOD, AND SO MANY FOLKS STARVE, RIGHT HERE IN SF. If I was a homeless woman I would rather eat the food you threw during the fight that dive in the garbage. The worst part about it is that this particular kind of action disengages the working class and it gives the media a good reason to portray protesters as wastefull crazy people. Pardon me if I am wrong, I just feel nausea at the thought of waiting food in the name of anything.
Respect. Lucha

don't criticize when you are not informed. however annoying this is to me the complainer probably won't check back to see this response. they are likely usuing a hit and run approach at "dialogue". don't let them get you down, if they are unwillingly to engage.

i was there and can guarantee that asll the food being thrown was rotting and rotten. it was certainly not edible. it might have not all been GMO, but just our pre-compost playing the role of GMO food while we were playing the roles of biotechnology pushers and third world nations.

realize that there are tons of edible food being thrown out because it is not market friendly on a nightly basis. being thatmost of the conference attendees are economic developers, this is their fault.

if you are concerned with the trashingof edibly garbage i suggest you take to dumpster diving yourself or start a food not bombs in your neighborhood. if you want to address world hunger, wasted surplus, and GMO foods. i suggest you join our cause and end the corporatization of life.

the food used for this food fight was rotton or very nearly rotten. in the pile of food to be thrown i saw cracked mellons, wilted lettuce, moldy peaches... this wasn't a waste of food.
