Where Are You Going To Be On June 5?

As the wheels come off of the Bush war wagon the June 5 demonstration could not be more timely. If you are tired of the lies coming out of Washington, fed up with the images of U.S. torture of the Iraqi people, angry about the bulldozing of homes in the Gaza strip than you should join thousands of others in the streets of San Francisco this Saturday.

Gather 11am at UN Plaza (Market between 7th & Hyde, Civic Center BART)
March down Market Street to Embarcadero (rally start at 1pm)
For more info call the ANSWER office 415-821-6545

* The popular resistance to the U.S. occupation has only deepened following the announcement that a long-time CIA operative, Iyad Alawi, has been named the "Prime Minister" in the "sovereign Iraqi government" (hand-picked by the U.S.) which will be initiated on June 30. Alawi left Iraq in 1971, worked for a while for the British intelligence service MI6, and returned to Iraq with the U.S. occupiers. Offices of his party, the Iraqi National Accord, have been attacked and burned to the ground during the recent popular uprisings.

* According to highly suspect U.S. official figures, at least 205 U.S. soldiers were killed in April-May of this year, and hundreds more seriously wounded. More than 800 U.S. troops have been killed and 5,000 seriously wounded since the invasion of Iraq began. U.S. officials don't give out casualty figures for Iraqis, but at least 15,000 have killed and tens of thousands more wounded over the past 14 months. Thousands more Iraqis have been subjected to sadistic systematic torture and abuse in U.S. custody. The humiliating torture, killings, home destruction and sending into exile peoples throughout the world are the norm of an expanding racist war machine that must be stopped.

* The only real turnover of power on June 30 will be from outgoing U.S. dictator, L. Paul Bremer, to incoming U.S. dictator John Negroponte, the new U.S. 'ambassador' to Iraq. More than 135,000 U.S. and U.S.-led troops will continue to occupy Iraq.
* On June 5 we will march to say: "All Foreign Troops Out of Iraq!"

TO MY DEAR FELLOW CITIZENS AND BEAUTIFUL CITY BY THE SEA:

I am so glad we are finally waking up-- and taking back our country which has been hijacked by those that do not represent our-- The People-- rights and interests.

Remember the Constitution starts with 'WE THE PEOPLE' and that the powers of the government 'derives those powers from the consent of the governed'.

So why are we being ignored?

Why is the draft being revved up for Spring/Summer 2005 with pending bills S 89 and HR 163?!

Because Mr. Rumsfeld has said it will be a 'long, hard slog'-- and that this war is 'only the beginning'? The beginning of what?

I'm afraid that not only will you and your children pay off our enormous deficit for the bankrupting of the treasury for war but we'll also pay in our blood and that of others. Blood for oil?

Folks, we need to stand up for our rights-- for what is just and right; to be heard.

War for oil and power is not just and right; it's immoral and unjust. But the Administration brushes this aside, ignores your concerns, and 'spins' the media and public with lies, misrepresentations, misleading information, and fear. How much longer will you put up with these manipulations?

I'm glad San Francisco citizens are exercising their rights-- and protesting anit-war sentiments! This is what the 60's were all about for those of you who were there (yes, I was): standing up for peace, freedom, and love-- and a better world through common sense, unity, and moral values.

You can stand up and say something-- or be silent and let injustices reign. I prefer we stand up and be counted-- for our concerns and for what is morally right.

Democracy needs you now.

RIGHT ON, SAN FRANCISCO!

I am glad to have demonstration to go to tomorrow... I will be marching against our stupidity for getting into a war without just cause or global support, for not having a plan in the wake of Sadam's fall and for sending troops culturally ignorant of the people and place they have been sent to. However, I will not be marching in support of removal of all foreign troops from Iraq . It would be cruel to have devastated the infrastructure and government without fixing it . If we leave now it will be worse for the Iraqi people...There has to be a different plan, a better plan but we can't leave leave a vacuum that may be filled with something worse than what they had.

What is the local news doing here? Obviously, they're not going to see 100,000 protesters against the biotech convention. Are they trying to set the protest up for failure by reporting that there were fewer people than expected later on?

SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police are preparing for a week of protests.

Some say the protests at Bio 2004 could rival the antiwar demonstrations that shut down the city last year.

Thousands of exhibitors are setting up shop at the Moscone Center in San Francisco for Bio 2004.

Scientists and researchers will show off the latest advancements in the industry.http://www.nbc11.com/news/3383317/detail.html

Thanks to Steve D. for his encouraging comments about the upcoming anti-war rally in San Francisco. I'll be there tomorrow along with all the other peace-loving people who don't support this latest U.S. led war.

Peace,
