The California Youth Authority (CYA) is imposing, even scary. It's easy to feel alone when your child or relative is inside. If you go to CYA, it's easy to feel alone when you get out.
But you are not alone. If you or a loved one is currently or used to be in CYA, you can join Families for Books Not Bars — a statewide network of system-involved youth and their parents and relatives. This network provides support for members while organizing and fighting for change.
