UNRWA: Rafah residents need $16 m

by ALJ
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has launched an appeal for $15.84 million from the international community for Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip refugee camp of Rafah.

Monday's plea follows weeks of what the aid organisation described as the most intense destruction in Gaza carried out by Israeli occupation soldiers since the start of the Intifada in September 2000.

Almost 800 families are in need of urgent cash assistance to get back on their feet after Israel's most recent onslaught in the camp.

"In the hardest-hit place in the Gaza Strip there are few places to turn for assistance. Rafah was always a poor place. It is now a devastated place," said UNRWA Commissioner General Peter Hansen.

Earlier this month, at least 1650 Rafah residents were made homeless in the wake of an Israeli troop rampage that lasted 72 hours.

Fifty-five Palestinians, mainly civilians, were killed. Almost $11.5 million is needed just for housing reconstruction in Rafah after Israel bulldozed dozens of civilian homes during the invasion.

Cash is also needed to provide food, household equipment, medical supplies and the reconstruction of sewage and water networks.

Urgent world plea

"Hundreds of destitute families are relying on UNRWA and the international community to come forward and help them cope with a very grave humanitarian crisis," said Hansen in a statement.

A total of 21,142 people have been made homeless since 30 May this year because of Israeli invasions, added UNRWA. The organisation has been able to build shelters for less than one third of them.

Nearly $38.5 million is needed for housing in Gaza.

Following the raid, Hansen toured the damage in Rafah and warned that the camp faced an "extremely serious humanitarian situation that is much worse than other [situations] that had been characterised as disasters."

Police seize two fake Palestinian ambulances

Israel has been accusing Palestinians of using vehicles to move wanted terrorists and arms between Palestinian areas.

Uri Glickman

Policemen from the Ma’ale Edumim station caught two fake Palestinian ambulances last night near Jerusalem following an intelligence tip. It is suspected that the ambulances were used to smuggle wanted Palestinian terrorists. In addition, an Israeli Arab suspected of being an accomplice in the plot, had been detained.

The IDF has been a subject of extensive criticism in Israel and around the world for preventing Palestinian ambulances from reaching battle areas in order to evacuate the wounded. The defense establishment has been carrying out a concerted effort recently in an attempt to expose the Palestinian “Medical Corps”, which officials say is involved in transferring wanted terrorists and arms between Palestinian areas and in Israel.

In addition, during an IDF operation in Gaza, soldiers found a videotape in which two armed Palestinians were seen as they were boarding an UNWRA ambulance.

Israel has also accused the Palestinians for using ambulances to move the body parts of the soldiers who were killed when their APC blew up some two weeks ago at the Zeitoun district of Gaza City.

Why on earth should we believe *anything* these people say?

Because we have seen on BBC, Sky News and other unbiased Telecasts.

But as far as rebuilding what Israel has destroyed until we give the Palestinian their State on the whole of the West Bank and Gaza it will be useless, because Israel will just go in and destroy it again.

We must be sure the Palestinians have food and medical assistance no matter the cost until they have their State where they can live in freedom (Their Freedom is the Key to Peace)

Once they have their State (Where is that darned Road Map) then it will pay to help them rebuild their infrastucture and set up some form of reasonable Government.

Until they have this state where the Israeli Military is not allowed any work done will be in vain.

Example of a possible solution:
SET THE BORDERS BACK TO 1967...
In return the Refugees have no Right of Return inside the 1967 Israeli Borders..
One complaint that Israel has is that the Right of Return will result in two Palestinian States, (The Right of return is almost impossible any way because the land and homes they lost are now built up with Jewish homes businesses etc…)
The Refugees can be compensated and helped to settle somewhere in the new Palestinian State..
The Settlements are now part of Palestine...
If the some 300,000 Israeli Settlers living in Palestine do not like living there, they can move to Israel...
If the 1,000,000 or so Palestinians who now live in Israel do not like living in Israel, they can move to Palestine...
If 1,000,000 or so Palestinians can live in Israel, then some 300,000 Israeli Settlers can live in Palestine if they choose to stay..
If you take Israel, West Bank and Gaza, West Bank and Gaza is only 22% of the total area in Question, This small amount is not too much to ask for millions of Palestinians who must have their freedom to have a peaceful life.
If this solution was implemented there is a good chance the so called terrorist (seen as freedom fighters by the oppressed Palestinian People) would stop their fight, if not they would be very foolish because then Israel would have a just cause to fight back and the U.S. would have a just cause to help Israel fight back.
Otherwise we will continue to have:
Israel: We have to confiscate Palestinian land and demolish Palestinian homes because there are suicide bombers???
Palestine: We have to defend ourselves because Israel is slowly confiscating all our land and demolishing our homes. We have no military to defend ourselves and our land. If we do nothing, we will soon have nothing at all???

You're excruciatingly naive and unaware of the truth to contend that networks like BBC and Sky News are unbiased. These and others are pro-"Palestinian".

It's not a lie. If you believe it is, you must explain why you accuse them of lying.
