A training for those wishing to participate in nonviolent solidarity work in Palestine will be held June 12, 13 and 16. The training is offered by the Northern California Support Group of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) and will be held in San Francisco. Register to receive location information. In addition, there will be a wonderful historical presentation on Palestine, pre-1948 to present, with a slideshow and video on June 9. This presentation will be at New College and is open to the public. See below for full info.
In preparation for ISM's Freedom Summer and Fall Olive Harvest Campaigns, 2004 (For details about the campaign go to http://www.palsolidarity.org) Northern California Support Group of the International Solidarity Movement Offers Comprehensive Training for Volunteer Work in Palestine -- June 9, 12, 13 and 16 Wednesday, June 9th, 7 pm, New College Arts Studio -- 741 Valencia St., San Francisco -- Slideshow and Presentation on the History of Palestine -- Pre-1948 to Present , with Dr. Jess Ghannam A benefit for Norcal ISM $5 to $15 (no one turned away for lack of funds) Co-sponsored by New College Center for Education and Social Action Sat. and Sun., 9:45 am to 5:00 pm -- San Francisco ISM Training for those interested in participating in solidarity work in Palestine this summer Must first register to receive location information $10 to $20 donation towards materials And bring a potluck lunch item to share on both days!!! Weds., 7 pm, San Francisco Media training and the practical details of travel to Palestine We will work collaboratively to address topics including: History and politics of Palestinian liberation struggle Non-violent direct action in Palestine Cross-cultural issues for U.S. internationals traveling to Palestine History and structure of the International Solidarity Movement Affinity group formation, functions, and consensus decision making for solidarity work in Palestine Issues of racism, privilege, and oppression for internationals in Palestine The potential dangers involved, coping with stress and trauma Media work ....and much more. The Northern California Support Group of the International Solidarity Movement will be offering some limited sponsorships to help pay for travel costs.
