Two Palestinians killed by IDF in Gaza; army destroys 3 houses in Dir el-Balah
Two Palestinians were killed by Israel Defense Forces fire over the past 24 hours in the southern Gaza Strip. Three IDF tanks and a bulldozer early Thursday entered the Gaza town of Dir el-Balah, destroying three Palestinian houses, witnesses and Palestinian security officials said.
The army said an operation was underway in an area where militants were operating.
A Palestinian man was killed Wednesday by IDF troops, west of Rafah.
According to Palestinian sources, Mohammed Zuarub, 40, was spotted with a group of Palestinians as they were approaching the fence of the settlement of Atzmona.
In a separate incident overnight Tuesday, IDF troops shot and killed a man spotted digging some 30 or 40 meters from the Gaza Strip fence near the Sufa crossing. According to the IDF he was planting a bomb.
Early on Wednesday, the IDF spotted a launcher of an anti-tank missile on the roof of a house in the Dir al-Balah refugee camp. The launcher was aimed at the settlement of Kfar Darom, and was ready for activation.
The IDF fired at the launcher and it exploded.
Soldiers hurt
Two IDF soldiers from the Givati Brigade were lightly wounded Tuesday morning when Palestinian militants fired an anti-tank rocket at their position near the Kfar Darom settlement in the Gaza Strip.
Troops at the scene returned fire. The two wounded soldiers were evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva.
An Israeli man sustained light wounds early Tuesday afternoon when a bomb was thrown at his vehicle near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. The man was evacuated to nearby Kiryat Arba for medical attention.
