Left wing demonstrators took to the streets calling for IDF to leave Gaza. Eight protestors arrested in violent confrontations with police in Tel-Aviv.
Hundreds of Left Wing Israelis took to the streets Wednesday night to protest the killing of Palestinian protestors in Gaza. Violent confrontations erupted between the left wing protestors and police. In Tel-Aviv police arrested eight demonstrators; three of them sustained light injuries claiming they were beaten by police officers.

Demonstrations against the IDF operation in Rafah took place throughout the country. In Tel-Aviv protestors marched from the Defense Ministry to Masryk square, the marchers complained about police brutality after scuffles broke out with police officers. About 100 protested outside the Prime Minister’s residence in Jerusalem carrying placards reading “Get out of Gaza now”. At the Sufah checkpoint in the Gaza Strip “Peace Now” activists and members of the “Four Mothers” movement called for an end to the Rafah operation.

“Police used excessive force against protestors, the level of violence was shocking”, Attorney Michael Sfarad who represents the “courage to refuse” movement told Maariv regarding the Tel-Aviv protest.

MK Zahava Galon complained to the Tel-Aviv police department who said in response that officers had handled the confrontations with reasonable force.

The protestors blocked traffic on Tel-Aviv’s Kaplan Street and conducted a procession without a city permit.

Another demonstration is planned for Thursday at 18.00 outside the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv, Yossi Beilin, architect of the Geneva Initiative, is expected to attend and address the crowd.
