JOSH TICKELL activist, filmmaker and author of the book, From the Fryer to the Fuel Tank: The Complete Guide to Using Vegetable Oil as an Alternative Fuel, has worked as an energy and environmental media consultant for the United States Congress, members of the Australian Parliament, The Department of Energy, as well as numerous private companies and individuals. Tickell has traveled nationwide in his vegetable-oil powered “Veggie Van” and he has appeared on the USA Today Show, Dateline NBC, CNN, The Discovery Channel, National Public Radio, The Australian Broadcast Corporation, and the Los Angeles Times. Tickell has produced documentaries in Burma, Guatemala and Australia. He recently participated in the National Geographic documentary film “Green Car” which will be aired in 2004 in 50 countries to 227 million people. Tickell is currently working on “Fields of Fuel,” a feature film about the cultural ramifications of the oil industry. In his talk at the Ecology Center, he’ll speak about the status of the oil industry and the biodiesel industry worldwide. He will be touching on links between the petroleum industry and the current world wide political situation.
