Al Qaeda-Linked Group Beheads American in Iraq
DUBAI (Reuters) - An Islamist web site showed a videotape Tuesday of an al Qaeda-linked group beheading an American and vowing more executions as revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners.
The poor quality tape showed a man sitting on the floor with five masked men behind him. After one of the masked men read out a statement, they pushed the bound man to the floor, cutting off his head and holding it aloft.
It was not immediately possible to verify the authenticity of the poor quality tape, carried on Muntada al-Ansar Islamist Web site, in which masked men said the execution was revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners.
On the tape, the man identified himself as Nick Berg before the execution.
"My name is Nick Berg, my father's name is Michael.... I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah," said the man, who was shown bound and seated in a chair in the carried on Muntada al-Ansar Islamist Web site.
Photographs shown around the world of naked Iraqi prisoners stacked in a pyramid or positioned to simulate sex acts at Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad have provoked international anger and become a serious setback to U.S. efforts to stabilize Iraq.
President Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair have both apologized and pledged to punish those responsible but both governments have come under pressure for senior officials to be held responsible for the abuse.

An Islamic militant website has shown a video purporting to show the beheading of an American in Iraq.
The video - the contents of which could not be verified - showed five men in headscarves and ski masks cutting off the man's head with a knife.
Moments earlier, the victim said he was an American from Philadelphia.
The group, thought to be linked to al-Qaeda, said it was carrying out the execution in retaliation for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by US soldiers.
The poor-quality tape - shown on the Muntada al-Ansar site - began with the victim, bound and wearing an orange jumpsuit, sitting on the floor with five masked men behind him.
The victim identified himself as Nick Berg, a US contractor whose body was found near a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday.
One of the masked men read out a statement, saying they had offered to exchange the man for inmates of Abu Ghraib prison but the coalition authorities refused.
They then pulled the man to the side and put a knife to his neck.
The man screamed as he was executed.
His killers shouted "Allah is great" before holding what appeared to be a head up to the camera.

Anyone know the url of the "Muntada al-Ansar" website?
"The group, thought to be linked to al-Qaeda"
Thought to be. That's right folks, you too can be locked away in jail or put on national news or anything anyone would like to do to you if you are "thought to be" linked to something.
Anyone no one needs any proof at all!
Note that the most bizarre and extremist murderous events always include the statements "God is great" in Arabic. Do they really go around saying that all the time? And if so, why does the news need to repeat it over and over if it's always said anyway?
Why? To make sure we know it's the MUSLIM 'terrorists,' and not the CIA working on more regime change and psy ops.

You've seen the pictures, now answer these questions...
Since when do 'radical Islamic terrorists'
dress their prisoners in US-style orange jump
suits?
How often have you seen 'radical Islamic
terrorists'wearing US-style bullet proof vests
and body armor?
How many fat and/or steroid pumped up Iraqi
insurgents - or Iraqis - have you seen
photographs of in the last ten years? Have you
even seen one?
Yet we're shown a prisoner in an orange jump
suit posed with FIVE beefy guards wearing bullet
proof vests and we're supposed to believe he's
being held captive by a shadowy Iraqi group.
The speed with which the body was identified,
the execution video appeared on the air, and the
'culprits' were identified is remarkable.
As is the timing... Bush & Co. desperately
needed something other than torture photos on
the front page and this came along just in the
nick of time.
Oh, and Berg's father states categorically that
it was the US holding his son before his
murder...
How much clearer does this need to be?
Final note, common sense, barnyard or
battlefield experience and/or biology class
informs us that removing the head from a living
being is an extremely bloody undertaking. I
don't mean to be gruesome, but the blood
spurts fountain-like and in great quantities.
Where's the blood?
I don't know what's more amazing... the utter
lameness of this fraud or the fact that so many
people are buying it.

Wouldn't there have been a video of Daniel Perl's execution also? I question the timing of this story.
Look at all this stuff in this freeper conspiracy theory thread. How can you tell what is accurate and what isn't? Also, what would his motivations be for doing something other than tower installation work? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1135234/posts
When I read on another thread that he was doing work at the RNC?
