At the Community's request, ISF (Idriss Stelley Foundation) will be hosting a
press conference at the Green House at 4929 3rd street, Friday 5 -14-04
from 2
to 4 P.M.
During the Community Forum held at Bayview Senior Center 2 evenings ago,
members of Prisoners With Children, interfaith pastors and concerned
community
members expressed their feeling of urgency about the press conference.
The following issues will be brought up:
* SF District Attorney Kamala Harris stance against the death penalty and the
POA response
* Bayview detaining of 5 Latino Youth on Ingalls, 5-3-04, for wearing red
clothing
* The 3-day pilot program conducted by CHP and SFPD on the Bayview and
Mission Districts,
* The endangerment of mentally ill patient Jennifer Arguelles and the
brutalization of Jose Damien Padua in the Mission (Chief Heather Fong
assured me that
she will insure that Captain Corrales will come to our location, accompanied
by Commander Chin)
* Last evening killing of disabled African American youth Camereen Boyd in
the Western Addition.
sandra-juanita Cooper and I (CO directors of ISF) will facilitate the debate.
We strongly encourage SFPD top brass, in addition to Commander Chin, to
attend the press conference.
This message is being forwarded to our new SF Police Commission, who met for
the first time yesterday while Boyd was killed.
