Update: Port authorities give strikers order to leave

by upton sinclair (irlandeso [at] riseup.net)
Today at around 1pm Port Authorities tried to give strikers legal papers to force them to leave Port property(aka the APL main gate where they are picketing).
None of the workers would touch the papers, though the suit that was trying to give them to people was trying to force them into a strikers hands. The area ended up being littered with legal notices, and most workers were tearing the notices apart by stepping on them and dragging them on the street. I read the front page of the packet of legal documents, and it mentioned something about a hearing at 1:30pm today. One of the spokespeople for the strikers told me that he was going to go to the hearing to represent the strikers because Ignacio de la Fuente advised him to do so.

It seems likely that the police and Port authorities will try to clear the strikers out of the APL main gate sometime later this afternoon or tonight, though I did not hear any specific threats from anyone.

Right now there is a couple hundred strikers at the APL main gate and it seems to be about the same as every other day I have been out there, with the police and the Port authorities finding ways to harrass the strikers as often as possible, at least when they are not busy strategizing their plan to clear out the strikers.

I will try to post some pictures later today, but have to wait a while for my battery to charge. I may also be taking less photos since I keep on being accused of being an FBI agent or police officer by strikers who don't know me, and am tired of dealing with the weird interactions with strikers that don't seem to understand the idea of Indymedia and the whole volunteer aspect.
