Independent Truckers Strike! Part 4
Strike continues despite media reports that state otherwise.
This is just a quick midday report.
The truckers continue with their strike and their enthusiasm is still strong. Todays it seems however that there are more trucks operating in the area than there were yesterday. The Oakland Tribune falsely reported an end to the strike fooling many warehouse owners and shipping lines to believe work would be back to normal today.

There was a strong holdout at the APL Terminal today. A spontaneous march filtered more protesters down the road to two more terminal locations. Trucks crossing lines continue to be heckled. One warehouse operator reports that at least two of his trucks have had their hoses cut.
Police presence has increased since yesterday.
Calls to the Port areas of L.A./Long Beach, and Portland confirm that trucks are still running in those places, and that most have no idea of the strike occurring in Oakland, the nation's fourth largest port.
Some local brokers and warehousing operators are willing to give in to some of the truckers' demands. Others are not willing to negotiate.
NOTE - This may be my last article on this topic. As the "author" name states, I am an Insider in this business. My company has deadlines for shipping to meet, just like other businesses, but I side with the truckers. I have not forgotten where I come from and where I stand. Best of luck to those truckers still holding out. Friday I leave for home and next week I will be in the Pacific Northwest. I tip my hat to Upton Sinclair for his good coverage of this strike. I believe that I was the first to report on the situation on Indymedia, and the response has been superb. Thank you all.
In solidarity,
Insider
