"Christian" Fascists Rally for Hate in Seattle
The ignorance, hatred, and bigotry of right-wing Christians was on full display in Seattle yesterday as several thousand of these assholes gathered together at Safeco field to call for a "Federal Marriage Amendment" banning same-sex marriage.
The ignorance, hatred, and bigotry of right-wing Christians was on full display in Seattle yesterday as several thousand of these assholes gathered together at Safeco field to call for a "Federal Marriage Amendment" banning same-sex marriage.
Ironically, and quite sickeningly, the "pro-family" forces chose May 1st, International Workers Day, a day that is supposed to represent the struggle of all the world's people for justice and liberation, as the date for their anti-gay hate festival. The event was organized by a group calling itself <a href="maydayformarriage.org">Mayday for Marriage, and was headlined by the anti-gay Reichsmarschall for Propaganda, Dr. James Dobson.
At the rally, Dobson, who heads the ultra-conservative organization Focus on the Family, denounced homosexuals for "promiscuity" and said that legalizing gay marriage would make teaching children about homosexuality common. (The implication here, of course, is that children knowing about homosexuality will somehow harm them, something Dobson, nor anyone else, has ever or will ever prove, probably because it's total bullshit.) He declared, "If this [gay marriage] happens, the culture war is over and everything associated with it is lost."
Meanwhile, about 1,500 proponents of gay marriage stood outside, calling for equality and an end to hatred and bigotry.
"Bigots go home!" they shouted, trying to drown out the anti-gay speakers.
The Infernal Noise Brigade provided music for marching and dozens of cars honked their horns in support of the pro-same sex marriage protestors.
