Procession for Peace Photos

by Eric Wagner (eric [at] basetree.com)
Photos from a vigil and procession for peace held in San Francisco on the anniversary of President Bush's "Mission Accomplished" speech.

The procession started at UN Plaza with a prayer by Buddhist monks. The somber procession, punctuated only by the chimes of peace bells, continued on to the San Francisco Federal Building, the Veteran's Building, and finally the steps of City Hall.

At each stop the names of Iraqi war dead, both US and Iraqi, were read in front of a backdrop of hand held placards showing a sea of names and faces.

This war is the result of a lie! George W. Bush told that lie. Now, we have a war that no one wants. Since first being in office, Bush has made mess after mess! Time to vote him out. George Vreeland Hill 001.gif"

whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or
in the name of liberty and democracy?"
