vigil Friday morning at the INS

by clare
Solidarity vigil this Fri April 30 from 7-9 a.m. at the INS building, Washington & Sansome in SF kicks off two Days of Mourning and Resistance for the recent escalation of the occupation in Iraq, as well as ongoing injustices in Palestine and here in the Bay Area with the targeting of immigrant communities. Stand with immigrants who are seeking justice and dignity.
Did you know that immigrants can access a fast track to citizenship if they serve in the armed forces? As a result, a disproportionate number of United States forces on the front lines in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around
the world are immigrants.

Did you know that as a result of Special Registrations of immigrants under the guise of the 'war on terror," over 3000 immigrants, mainly from Arab, Muslim, and South Asian countries, were jailed, many for paperwork errors and petty violations, and over 14,000 face deportation?

On Friday, April 30, 2004 from 7 am to 9 am, the
Immigration and Borders Working Group of Direct Action to Stop the War
will hold a vigil at the office of the United States Citizenship and
Immigration Services, formerly known as the INS, located at 444
Washington Street, near Sansome, in San Francisco. Our vigil is intended to highlight and oppose the scapegoating of immigrants under the guise of War on Terror, and to stand in solidarity with immigrant communities.

This vigil is organized as part of the Days of Resistance and Mourning
organized by Direct Action To Stop the War. For more information on the
vigil contact anarchakitty [at] riseup.net. for more information on the Days
