Alan Dershowitz, ironically a civil rights lawyer, has repeatedly justified
acts of torture as legitimate and promotes its legalization. He is one of the
key figures responsible in the attacks on civil liberties in this country.
Dershowitz has also encouraged collective punishment against the Palestinian
people often suggesting that whole villages be destroyed (Jerusalem Post,
March 2002). Now is the time to stand against these ever-increasing racist
ideologies! Join the greater bay area community and the students of UC
Berkeley in voicing dissent.
Rally 5:30PM April 29 at Zellerbach hall.

Nobody is saying Dershowitz should be prevented from speaking. But he shouldn't be hailed as a person of honor or integrity.
Dershowitz has a long history of lying and plagiarizing in service to his racist ideology. He expressly supports and promotes racial hatred, torture, collective puishment and ethnic cleansing.
Protesters serve to expose his lies and prevent him from masquerading as some sort of civil libertarian.

He is admired as such by those of us who care about these issues in themselves as opposed to for overtly political reasons, like yourselves: i.e. we support free speech except of those we disagree with, we are against the death penalty for Mumia but its cool that Mumia supports the death penalty in Cuba, etc. etc. etc.
