Thousands of foreign "illegal combatants" flood into Iraq
Since the U.S. Invasion/Occupation of Iraq in March of 2003, thousands of "illegal combatants" have entered Iraq to join the fight. In fact, they form the 3rd largest foreign army after the USA & UK occupation invaders. But most are paid by the Pentagon & under contract as "civilian contractors."
The desperate USA Occupation authority--up to now reluctant to increase troop commitments due to the volatility of inflaming public opinions at home--have had to rely on hiring thousands of mercenaries to perform guard duty & other hazardous tasks normally done by occupation soldiers. One source put the number of such "illegal combatants" at 25,000 armed recruits.
A major player, the American firm Blackwater Security--which had 4 of its employees, including one from Hawaii, killed in Fallujah last week--had a contract with the Pentagon to recruit many ex-Special Forces vets and even trained killers from Chile's notorious Pinochet army, as well as ex-South Africa & British military veterans. They are not accountable to any Iraqi authority, and are in fact fighting inside Iraq illegally.
Hence, the thousands of illegal foreign fighters that the Bush regime claims fighting in Iraq are, in fact, U.S.-paid mercecaries. thus, this is a further chapter in the total fraud & Newspeak of the illegal USA Invasion of Iraq.
When will the UN begin prosecution of this(another) grave violation of international law by the U.S. ?
