Friday 9th of April The Women of Oil On the 27th of March, Caleta Olivia the petrol reserves of the Termap company were occupied by around forty seven people.

This action was undertaken in part by the same group that kept the national motorway number 3 blocked for 4 days and who did not accept the proposal made by the mayor (?)Cottilo. Of these people, thirty were marginalised women who, with their children, climbed the gate of the plant. Some climbed to the highest point of tank 2016 and the others took up position below with their children and demanded a response to their demands for genuine work. These women, self-designated "mujeres in lucha" (women in struggle) explained their rejection to the proposal of the mayor (?) as they considered it just an offer of ‘bread for now and hunger for tomorrow’. They also stated that ‘it seems that we women are second rate citizens, they take the piss out of us, discriminate against us, and they don’t offer us the same treatment as for men’. And so they continued, determined to keep up the struggle.

For 13 days these women kept the petrol reserves occupied until finally they ended the action after signing an agreement with the company Oil M&S that would guarantee jobs in the oil industry for all those registered -50 people - and benefits of $ 700 per month for 60 days.
