After you wrote the City of Fresno Human Relations Commission a letter asking them not to do this, I understand you have decided to allow $2,500 of Fresno Taxpayer money to be used so the City of Fresno Human Relations Commission can sponsor the Reel Pride Gay Film Festival. I must say I am very disappointed in this decision.
Regardless of the content of the films in this festival, the idea of the taxpayers subsidizing a private film festival is inappropriate, especially in light of our current budget issues.

The fact that this festival shows sexually explicit movies makes this action even more unacceptable.

I am also curious as to where the Human Relations Commission is getting these funds. The City has hired former City Manager Jim Aldridge as a "Consultant" at over $3,000 per month (plus expenses) to "run" this group and with the recent legal settlement caused by the HRC's outrageous press release against Free Republic of $60,000, I am curious as to how they would have any money left over to do this.

I would appreciate your response to this. I fully expect a rather significant level of outrage from many in the City when this information is public and I would like to be able to offer your explanation.

I am requesting formally that you reconsider this approval and withhold the funds.
