GE Free Butte County

A group of people are talking about the idea of gathering signatures for a County initiative to ban genetically modified organisms from being grown in Butte County. A similar initiative was just passed in Mendocino County, in spite of the anti-GE people being outspent 7 to 1 (big bucks were put into the campaign by Monsanto). This would be a major rush job, to get such this initiative on to the November ballot. It would be Butte County only. Please come to the next meeting on Wednesday, March 24 at 6 pm at the Chico Peace and Justice Center (526 Broadway Street) if you are interested in working on this campaign; your help could be putting together a fundraiser dinner or speaking event, tabling, talking on the radio, gathering signatures, preparing flier or posters, showing movies, donating funds, or just helping with ideas and planning.
