good to see some san jose folks getting out and showing that san francisco isn't the only place around where people don't eat the crap that this adminstration forces down our collectively apathetic and gullible throat.
That's terriffic! I didn't even know there was a San Jose FNB -- way to go!!! I hope that protester who got arrested will be okay and the charges dropped -- does anyone know what that happened to him?
In San Jose, a crowd estimated by police at about 1,100 people gathered in Roosevelt Park. The protest, organized by South Bay Mobilization to Stop the War, kicked off with a rally at noon featuring speakers from the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the National Lawyers Guild, local unions and Students for Justice, among others.
With a rap music performance providing a background beat, demonstrators shook their bodies and waved banners with slogans like ``Moron with a War On'' and ``Grandparents for Peace.''
``We hold it self-evident that we can be president and other American myths, that he can be president despite our country's wish,'' said Troy Curtis, 25, of San Jose, as he bobbed his left hand for emphasis.
The crowd was loud and active but peaceful, police said.
``We're very happy with the conduct,'' said Lt. Jerry Smith, a unit commander for the Special Operations team, as protest organizers thanked him.
``No. We want to thank you guys,'' Smith said.
