FRIDAY March 19th,
12:00 - 1:30 PM
126 Barrows Hall at UC Berkeley
FREE TO THE PUBLIC

A few weeks after an Israeli bulldozer crushed Rachel Corrie to death,
International Solidarity Movement activist Brian Avery was standing in the
Jenin refugee camp, arms raised over his head, wearing a reflective orange
vest, when Israeli soldiers shot him in the face at point-blank range. In
this unprovoked attack, the soldiers drove up to Avery and a fellow
nonviolent activist, and opened fire from their armored personnel carrier.
The heavy machinegun fire tore through Avery’s face and left him clinging to
life. Come have lunch with Brian, hear his story and his first-hand
perspective on the Israeli occupation of Palestine and prospects for peace.

If they shot at his head at point blank range he would be dead. If they wanted him dead they would not have provided medical treatment for this intruder. If they did not like him they would have handed him a bill for the medical and reconstructive surgery.

---------------------------------
In contrast to the swift elevation of Corrie to saintly fame with headlines and feature stories about her lofty "commitment," coverage of the death of three other Americans less than two weeks earlier at the hands of Palestinian terrorists was altogether different.

Instead of hundreds of stories, there were but a handful devoted to the deliberate murders of Abigail Litle, Rabbi Elnatan and Dina Horowitz.

Abigail, the 14-year-old daughter of an American Baptist minister, was blown up with 16 others on a Haifa bus on March 5. The Horowitz's, American citizens, were murdered by Palestinians who broke into their home dressed as religious Jews and gunned them down while they celebrated Shabbat. They leave four children and three grandchildren.
