Film “The Fourth World War”

Humanist Hall (map)

“In the face of this
unjust war based on deception by our leaders, I could not remain
silent. I spoke out so that others in the military would realize
that they also have a choice and a duty to resist immoral and illegitimate
orders. You don’t have to be cog in the machinery of war… I
wanted those who may be thinking about enlisting to hear and learn
from my experiences.”

Film screening of the new movie “The Fourth World War”
While our airwaves are crowded with talk of a new world war, narrated by generals and filmed from the noses of bombs, the human story of this global conflict remains untold. "The Fourth World War" brings together the images and voices of the war on the ground. It is a story of a war without end and of those who resist. Official selection of the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam 2004.
A benefit for Not in Our Name -- proceeds to help cover expenses of Stephen’s defense; co-sponsored by the Stephen Funk Legal Defense Committee. Suggested donation: $10 - $20 (no one turned away for lack of funds--free admission for AWOL troops).
Event endorses include: Bay Area United Against War, Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors, Global Exchange, International ANSWER, International Socialist Organization, Lake Merritt Neighbors Organized for Peace, Middle East Children’s Alliance, Refuse & Resist!, and Queers for Peace and Justice.

i assume you're not an antiabortionist..... or that you are a hypocrite.
mr. funk had the nerve to stand up and refuse to fight.... which is more than the president of the usa can say for himself. mr. funk didn't go hide himself in alabama while his daddy sent other people's boys to go die.
The military is, and always will be, a machine of war, which must follow the orders of it's commander in chief, even if an individual in the military does not agree with the policies behind those orders. The military can not function if people do not follow orders. The only choice you have is whether or not to serve. Once you have decided to serve, your life in this republic is suspended and you are now obligated to give your life even unto death, until that commitment is up. Period.
and what's up with you, you hater?
you got a problem with that? then why don't you ar-tic-u-late it for us?
don't forget to include your address and picture. we want to know all about you, in fact.
tsk tsk.
funny name for a hater to pick... i suppose we can add liar to your epithets.
tell us, "che," do you go around hating homos in random posts too, or just where we've accomplished things for the people, like standing up to the US war machine/torture factory? that's a funny thing for someone named "che" to object to.
what is up with you? what a messy little man. i'm so sorry for you, you must live a wretched life. maybe that's why you hate gays... most haters hate because they have to tear someone else down in order to build up their own starved little egos. is that what's up with you, "che," hmm?
So how does it make him a hero if he wanted to use the system, take everyting he could get out of it, and then refuse to follow through on his commitment? Conscientous objector status isn't an issue; if you have a problem with blindly following orders, then the answer is simple: don't enlist.
