. . . barbed wire fences surrounding whole cities; the destruction of farmers fields; thousands of house to house raids on 'suspected resisters'; and the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians . . . As the occupation of Iraq continues to look more and more like the occupation of Palestine, the question arises for the US anti-war movement: Can we be against the occupation of Iraq without considering the occupation of Palestine? Please join us for this open forum, as we look at the connections between the occupations of Palestine and Iraq, the history of Israel's occupation and the Palestinian resistance, as well as why the US government spends billions of dollars a year to support Israel and fund the Israeli Defense Force. Following the speakers, there will be an interactive and open forum for discussion, debate and education. Please come out to listen, question and discuss these important issues that will help to strengthen our politics and propel the US anti-war movement forward! Speakers: Jess Ghannam is a psychoanalyst and a professor at the University of California-San Francisco. Dr. Ghannam is a grassroots activist and member of Al-Awda San Francisco and The Palestine Right to Return Coalition's executive committee. He currently serves as the president of the San Francisco American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. Toufic Haddad is a Palestinian activist from Ramallah. He is co-founder and co-editor of a monthly alternative english-language magazine, 'Between the Lines', which offers a critical political perspective of the Oslo process and the apartheid reality which has been established in its wake. He currently resides in San Francisco and is a member of the International Socialist Organization. Noura Khouri is an American born Palestinian, grassroots community organizer. She is a member of Mission for Peace as well as The International Solidarity Movement. She recently returned from Palestine where she participated in direct action with ISM. Sponsored by: Al-Awda, American Muslim Voice, Free Palestine Alliance, If Americans Knew, International Socialist Organization, International Solidarity Movement, Justice for palestinians, Mission for Peace, Pakistan American Alliance, QUIT, San Francisco American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, Solidarity, and more to come!
