by Jeff Paterson, Not in Our Name (jeff [at] paterson.net)
Vallejo progressive community held a rally today calling for the end to the U.S. occupation of Iraq -- "Rally to Bring the Troops Home and Stop the Attacks on Working People!"

About two hundred folks today gathered near the Farmer's Market in Vallejo to protest the occupation of Iraq. Organized by the Solano Peace and Justice Coalition, the rally began with a reading of the Not in Our Name Pledge of Resistance, featured ILWU organizer Clarence Thomas and keynote speaker Fernando Suarez del Solar. On March 27, 2003, Fernando lost his son Jesus when he stepped on a US landmine while fighting in Iraq.

What was Fernando's son doing in the volunteer military? What did Fernando teach his son? Why does Fernando think his son was trained to use a gun?

Fernando and all other parents, as well as the peace movement, must teach their children and everyone else:
Don't fight the bosses' wars; fight the bosses here at home; ORGANIZE LABOR!

The military teaches people to use a gun so they will kill their fellow workers so as to maximize profits of the rich as the primary law and goal of capitalism is maximization of profit. The fascist American government is not giving any job training or education to anyone when it teaches soldiers how to use a gun. A soldier by definition is a paid, professional killer.

Fernando should apologize for being such a bad parent and not teaching his son right from wrong. How many generations will it take before the parents teach their children to never join the military? For those of us over age 40, this is an old movie. How many wars will it take before parents teach their children to stop murdering other workers?

Rally Together for Dennis Kucinich-he is the only one who will bring the troops home now. Kerry wants to send 40,000 more troops.

The media is now fighting hard to keep Dennis out of any sort of limelight. Two recent debates showed both Larry King and Dan Rather attempting to ignore and then marginalize him, however with any amount of time Dennis did get he would state his postition concisely so that anyone could see he is the genuine person who would work for the american people. I read an article that attacked Dennis Kucinich for taking matching government funds, which is laughable to say the least. I am reminded of the quote from Ghandi..."first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. With the latest debates these guys made it obvious that they are attempting to silence Dennis Kucinich, they are fighting his right to free speech on national TV, they are violating the american people's right to choose their own candidate and the american people saw that. The mainstream media has shown it's true colors for all to see. They are not working for democracy, they are working against democracy. We must expose these talking corporate heads and fire them. We must fire our 'representatives' who have allowed the bush administration to get away with what they have. This includes Kerry and Edwards. And right now we must rally around Dennis Kucinich.

The primaries are not over. Dennis got 30% in Hawaii and Utah7% and Idaho8%. We must insist on a democratic candidate who has the intelligence to research facts on his own and the courage to fight for the truth. This leaves us with Dennis Kucinich. Everyone is now starting to see what has been happening. The media is blacking out Dennis Kucinich because they are afraid of him speaking the truth. But as he continues to speak the truth, more and more people will recognize it. There is no stopping the power of the people and they know that.

Does anyone really like Kerry? It seems most people are just accepting that he will probably win. The primaries have low voter turnout, if we can just get people to realize it is important, that they have nothing to lose by voting for Dennis Kucinich....we can give him a great turnout. Even if you want to vote for Nader...you can vote for Dennis Kucinich in the primary.

And their is still time to freeway blog for Dennis "bring the trooops home-vote Kucinich" "free health care-vote Kucinich" "free college and preschool-vote Kucinich" There is still time to help make a difference.
