Betsy Rose, Will Fudeman,
& Gerry Tenney
in a Benefit Concert for Dennis J. Kucinich
on Abe Lincoln’s Birthday
7:30 pm Thursday, February 12, 2004
La Pena Cultural Center
3105 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley
Join fans of progressive music and politics on the birthday of Abraham
Lincoln, the first member of the House to be elected president, as we
support progressive Democrat Dennis J. Kucinich in his bid to become
the next. Like Lincoln, Kucinich speaks out for civil rights, and his
platform also emphasizes peace and universal health coverage.
With warmth and wit, Betsy Rose sings about peace and justice. Having
toured worldwide and inspired artists such as Pete Seeger and Ronnie
Gilbert to record her songs, she brings her music home to the Bay Area
and Kucinich supporters.
Will Fudeman returns to the Bay Area from Ithaca, New York, where he
played klezmer with the late, great Fred Koslov, and the Cayuga Klezmer
Revival, and he currently plays original songs with Susan Lytle.
Gerry Tenney has long been a pillar of the Bay Area Yiddish and klezmer
communities, and audiences can’t sit still when he plays.
The evening with these three musicians, friends, and Kucinich
supporters promises to be a foot-stomping, heart-warming good time.
Tickets are available for $15 in advance or at the door.
