Status of Women in Iraq: CodePink Women's Delegation Report Back
An all-women delegation, led by CodePink co-founder Jodie Evans, has recently
returned from Iraq. The delegation's goal was to research how Iraqi women are faring
under U.S. occupation. Delegates met with U.S. authorities, Iraqi officials, and
representatives from a variety of Iraqi women's organizations that are working on
issues ranging from creating income-generating projects for women to organizing
shelters for victims of domestic violence to raising women's concerns in the writing
of the new constitution, and they talked to Iraqi women in their homes, at the
university, and in the markets.
Please join us for an informative evening discussing the delegation's findings and
what we can do in the U.S. to support the women of Iraq.
