The Progressive Festival, an annual gathering of left-leaning groups, speakers and music, comes to Petaluma on Sunday, Sept. 29th (11am to 6 pm). The event takes place in Walnut Park in downtown Petaluma, is free and is wheelchair accessible. This year's Festival features the world-famous San Francisco Mime Troupe doing their latest spoof of our political leaders, "Mr. Smith Goes To Obscuristan". Also featured is famed singer/songwriter Holly Near, political analyst Michael Parenti, KPFA's Pratap Chatterjee, Green Party candidate for Governor Peter Camejo, and Tanya Brannan of the Purple Berets, among others. Great live music will be supplied by the Mime Troupe Band, Zenekar and more. Fifty different progressive groups will have informational tables, from the ACLU to Sustainable Sonoma Co. to bushstolethepresidency.org. For more information, call 707/763-8134.
