Berkeley City Council Action For Peace!

Please come to the Council Chambers to support a letter from the Berkeley City Council going to our federally elected officials to support a cease-fire of the air strikes on Afghanistan. If you can't come please e-mail your support to: allcitycouncil@ci.berkeley.ca.us and dspring@ci.berkeley.ca.us Mayor Shirley Dean and other "moderates" on the Council are not going to support the resolution. There may only be four or five votes on the Council in favor of this action so getting speakers to support the item could make a difference. People should fill out the orange speaker cards provided by the City Clerk. The speakers are chosen by lottery. Please arrive early/on time to be able to fill out a card. There will be a designated speakers list so people who don't want to speak can defer their time to someone on the list.
