Trikone, the San Francisco Bay Area’s South Asian lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organization presents Kulture Kulcha 2002, the cultural talent show celebrating creative growth and increasing visibility of the community on and off-stage. Last year, Trikone organized Kulture Kulcha, a fun evening of cultural performances by the local queer talents, a South Asian fashion show, finger-licking good food, and dance. The huge success of that event, and the encouragement from our community has led us to make Kulture Kulcha an annual event. The aim of Kulture Kulcha is manifold: · To provide a platform for our community members to showcase their talents in front of their friends, · To provide an opportunity for folks to hang out with other queer desi folks and dance to south asian music, and · A source for Trikone to raise some funds for the many activities it proposes to undertake during the year. Kulture Kulcha 2002 promises to be a blast! Wanna see a Kuchipudi dance performance? Listen to one of our friends sing some Hindi songs? How about a funny spoken word piece? A folk dance? A couple of drag queens setting the stage on fire with their sexy moves? There's lots more along with a huge buffet dinner. And DJ Tim Phelps spinning Bollywood, Persian, Sri Lankan, and American hits. All this at the same classy venue as last year: the fabulous California Ballroom in downtown Oakland. It's one block from 19th Street Oakland BART station and there's plenty of free parking in the ballroom parking lot. Tickets are available online and are priced at $25 advance and $30 at the door. And here’s a great deal! Buy tickets and get the 6th free! For more information please contact TRIKONE at 415-789-7322 or by email at board@trikone.org.
