The New East Bay Media Center Presents: ARTISTS UTILIZING DIGITAL TOOLS WITH GEORGE AGUILAR, GUEST ARTIST When: Saturday, March 2nd, 2002 11:30 – 4:00pm Where: East Bay Media Center – 1939 Addison St. – Berkeley On March 2nd, poets, artists, and media creators have a chance to explore the intersection of art, cinema and computers in a seminar with award-winning Cin(E)-Poet and free-lance multimedia director George Aguilar. Hosted by the New East Bay Media Center, this workshop will include fun and informative demonstrations of Aguilar’s approach to digital artistry in easy to understand terms. The seminar will cover tips for selecting and marking clips for digitizing to a computer via Firewire interface as well as creative techniques using software such as Photoshop, MGI Videowave and Soundforge for making a digital movie. Attendees will also learn how to incorporate on-the-spot video, sound and text to create a Cin(E)-Poem. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own short poem, artwork or musical talents/instruments for the creation of an in-class group project. About the artist: George Aguilar is a free-lance multimedia director, producer and award-winning Cin(E)-Poet who uses the latest computer and software technology to create digital movies merging the art of poetry with the art of cinema. His work has been exhibited in both museums around the world as well as at offline/online festivals such as Hollywood.com, Streaming Cinema 2.0, Eveo.com, the Seoul International Digital Festival, the Berkeley Video and Film Festival 2001 and most recently at the National Council of Teachers of English Convention in Baltimore, Maryland.
