Join Ron Good, Executive Director of RESTORE HETCH HETCHY, for a brown bag lunch roundtable discussion and multimedia presentation on Yosemite National Park's Hetch Hetchy Valley. The program features the natural and human history of Hetch Hetchy Valley, that is currently flooded by reservoir water used by the San Francisco Bay Area. Restoration ideas that incorporate a "win" for Hetch Hetchy and a "win" for the Bay Area will be discussed. Rate-payers in the Bay Area are facing a $4.5 billion repair bill for seismic upgrades and water quality improvements to the Hetch Hetchy water system. This provides an opportunity to secure state and federal funding to help Bay Area residents pay for the repairs, in exchange for restoring Hetch Hetchy Valley to the people of California and the nation. Earth Island Institute, 300 Broadway, Suite 29, San Francisco. Free. To RSVP or for more information, call 415-788-3666, Ext. 144.
