An announcement for the formation of an autonomen group in the Bay Area. Autonomen, or Autonomists is a term used for those that choose to live outside the norms of society in terms of housing, employment and transactions. In other words those that make a decision to not participate in the system. In terms of housing they usually set up squats, in terms of employment they usually set up collectives. Some set up community gardens, pirate radio stations, etc. If anyone is interested in organizing an Autonomen Collective in the Bay Area please meet at Espresso Bravo Cafe on Sunday, Dec. 30th and the following Sunday, January 6th, 2:00pm, the address, 663 Valencia St, San Francisco, near 16th St Bart Station. For information on other autonomen initiatives go to http://squat.net or visit http://homesnotjails.org This meeting will simply gauge whether there is sufficient interest in the Bay Area to start an Autonomen Collective. I personally see it being organized in an open and organic way rather than an secretive or elitist way, although certain elements will need to be discussed privately amongst participants. The Autonomen is non-sectarian, in other words although many are anarchists it is not an anarchist group, it is open to anyone interested in the autonomist lifestyle. --Druid Sufi member SF Homes Not Jails/Food Not Bombs
