On Wednesday, December 3rd at 7:00pm, June Jordan’s Poetry for the People will be holding the Fall 2003 reading at UC Berkeley. Poetry for the People, created by the poet at political activist June Jordan, encompasses the study and practice of poetry from the traditions of underrepresented peoples. This annual exhibition of student poets is among the most popular in the Bay Area regularly drawing Standing Room Only crowds. This year’s reading will be held at UC Berkeley, in the Lipman Room on the 8th floor of Barrows Hall. The event is absolutely free and open to the public, and everyone is welcome. The reading coincides with the publication of Poetry for the People’s latest anthology, My Skin: A Canvas of Poems, featuring the poets participating in the reading. Anthologies will be available at the door.
